I am an appellate lawyer with a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Helwan University (2001). Previously, I worked as a lawyer at the Office of Legal Counsel Mohamed Paberss until 2012. I have been practicing as a human rights lawyer since 2012.

I worked as a lawyer at the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information from 2012 to November 2018, and served as the Director of the Legal Unit at the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information from January 2018 to February 2019.

I worked as a lawyer and legal researcher at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms from March 2019 until March 2020, and served as the Director of the Criminal Justice Unit at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms from April 2020 to October 2020.

Since November 2020, I have been working as a Legal Adviser to the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms.

I have worked on numerous issues related to freedom of opinion and expression, including cases of contempt of religion, cases involving journalists and media professionals in Egypt, and issues related to the right to assemble and demonstrate. My experience spans from the early Mohamed Mahmoud events to the events of September 2019. Additionally, I have represented LGBTQ+ individuals, including activist Malak Al-Kashif, and provided legal support for women’s issues and environmental rights.

I was part of the defense team for blogger Wael Abbas, a member of the defense team in the journalists’ union case (representing Khaled al-Balshi), a member of the defense team in the Eid detainees case (including Ambassador Masoum Marzouq and others), a member of the defense team in the Al Amal case (representing Alaa Issam), and a member of the defense team for the events of September 20th. I also participated in the defense teams for Amal Fathi, Ibrahim Metwally, and the metro detainees, and represented Malak Al-Kashif in the State Council case.

I have worked extensively on issues related to freedom of opinion and expression, attended numerous training sessions in the human rights field, and published several reports on human rights websites. Additionally, I have worked as a trainer in trial monitoring.

As a legal researcher, I have published multiple reports and legal papers on the websites of human rights organizations. I have also lectured and trained on international and domestic law in Egypt, and observed trials.

Experience

With over 11 years of experience in civil society, I have participated in numerous training sessions and workshops on human rights work, including international litigation, international complaints, and the monitoring and documentation of violations. I am skilled in drafting legal research and reports, and I have experience as a lecturer and legal trainer. I am proficient in English.
